New information has surfaced regarding the interview between Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, President, Joe Ajaero and the police.

According to reports, Ajaero was questioned by the police as part of an ongoing investigation into one of the EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters.

The police had accused Ajaero of terrorism financing, cybercrime, subversion, criminal conspiracy, and treasonable felony, prompting the summons.

On Thursday, Ajaero arrived at the police Intelligence Response Team, IRT, command in Guzape at 10:20 am, accompanied by renowned lawyer Femi Falana and a team of legal representatives.

After a nearly two-hour meeting, Ajaero and his legal team departed the IRT.

A member of Ajaero’s legal team who pleaded to remain anonymous revealed that the police lacked substantial evidence against the NLC President.

The lawyer said: “It was a very friendly interaction, they summoned him to find out if he was in the know of somebody they were investigating.

“The person was one of the protesters and they wanted to know if he was one of the tenants of Labour House, he had a bookshop about six years ago.

“Even there we enjoined them to release all the protesters or charge them to court.

“Ajaero has no business with the arrest of anybody. We told them that the Labour House is on the 10th floor and the person they arrested is on the second floor.

“The person’s bookshop they came to ransack is on the second floor, so, Ajaero has nothing to do with being invited by the police.

“We told them that they should have just placed a call instead of writing to him and making it look serious.”
