Liverpool Striker, Darwin Nunez has received 5-match ban for his role in post-match brawl.

Nunez was handed the five-match ban for his involvement in a violent altercation between Uruguay players and Colombian supporters.

The incident occurred on July 11, after Uruguay’s 1-0 loss to Colombia in the Copa America semi-final in the United States.

Videos showed Nunez, shirtless and enraged, clashing with Colombia fans in the stands.

The Liverpool striker appeared to throw punches before being restrained.

Initially, it was reported that Nunez was defending his family, but the severity of the incident led to a swift response from CONMEBOL, South American football’s governing body.

Nunez’s suspension will only apply to international matches, allowing him to continue playing for Liverpool.

The incident has sparked a wider investigation, with 12 individuals facing sanctions.

Liverpool FC had initially declined to comment but sought Nunez’s account and consulted with the Uruguay Football Federation to understand the events.
