Terror struck the Ajiran community in Agungi, Lekki, Lagos State, on Monday when gunmen killed Demola, who is said to be the eldest son of the Ojomu of Ajiran land, Tijani Akinloye.

It was gathered that the shooting occurred along Chevron Drive, near Ebano Supermarket, sending shockwaves through the community and causing many residents to flee the area.

An estate management company in the community issued a statement confirming the incident, saying: “This is to notify all residents that Ajiran (Agungi) king’s son was assassinated today along Chevron Drive (close to Ebano Supermarket) this morning.

“We therefore plead to our esteemed residents to avoid Chevron area, Agungi and Ajiran for now for their safety.”

Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the terror unleashed in a brief statement on Monday night, stating that an investigation is underway.

According to Hundeyin, the 50-year-old prince was ambushed while driving his black Toyota Corolla car along Chevron Drive in the Lekki area of Lagos, resulting in his tragic death.

He said: “He was attacked near Bourdillon Court Estate Gate by four armed men driving in a white mini bus.

“The attackers shot and stabbed him to death. The scene had been visited and one expanded cartridge was recovered while the corpse had been moved to a morgue for preservation and autopsy.

“The case will be transferred to SCIID Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.”
