The Nigerian Army’s I Division has announced a successful operation in Kaduna State, where troops neutralized a terrorist and recovered four AK-47 magazines.
According to a statement released on Monday by Lt.-Col. Musa Yahaya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, I Division Nigerian Army.
Part of the statement reads: ”Troops while on clearance operations in the general areas of Sabon Birni, Dogon Dawa, Maidaro, Ngede Alpha and Rafin Kaji on Aug. 25, made contact with elements of terrorists.
“In the fire fight that ensued, our troop troop overpowered and neutralised one of the terrorists while others fled with suspected gunshot injuries.”
Lt.-Col. Yahaya reported that the troops recovered a cache of arms and accessories, including four AK-47 magazines with a total of 60 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition.
Other items recovered are PKT belt with 86 rounds of ammunition, two motorcycles (one of which was destroyed), a Techno mobile phone, a Baofeng Handheld Radio, and an Airtel recharge card valued at N5,000.
He said the General Officer Commanding, I Division and Commander of ”Operation WHIRL PUNCH” Maj. Gen. Mayirenso Saraso commended the troops for the successful operation.
The commander urged the troops to intensify their efforts and make it impossible for terrorists, insurgents, and their collaborators to operate within the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
He expressed gratitude to the people of Kaduna, Kano, Niger, and Jigawa States for their ongoing support and cooperation.
He further encouraged them to utilize the Division’s Toll-Free Line (0800 002 0204) to report any valuable information or intelligence that can aid in launching effective operations against criminal elements.
