The proposed meeting between the Federal Government and members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities set for today, August 26, has been postponed.

Emmanuel Osodeke, President of ASUU, acknowledged that the planned meeting to prevent another ASUU strike will no longer take place, as declared by the Minister of Education.

The meeting is now scheduled for Wednesday, August 28.

No explanation was provided for the postponement.

This comes after ASUU leaders threatened to launch a statewide strike over the Federal Government’s refusal to honor the 2009 renegotiated accord.

The notification is one of the resolutions adopted at the union’s national executive council meeting, which took place the previous weekend at the University of Ibadan.

The union’s demands include welfare, university finance, and the need to halt the growth of campuses around the country.
