A 55-year-old woman, identified as Nemis Usman, has been allegedly killed by a hit and run driver in Taraba State.
Usman who is a member of the ‘Operation Keep Taraba Clean’, was crushed to death by the yet to be identified driver in the Jalingo metropolis.
It was gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday along Yola Road near Mile Six, in Nobis Junction.
Reports say officials at the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Jalingo, confirmed the woman dead, adding that she died before she was rushed to the hospital.
At the time of filing this report, her remains have been evacuated to the hospital morgue.
Police sources say investigation to identify the driver responsible for the hit-and-run accident is presently ongoing.
The deceased’s colleagues said the woman was knocked down by the driver when she was busy carrying out her assigned responsibilities on the highway.
While confirming the incident, the coordinator of Operation Keep Taraba Clean, Iliya Kefas, stated that efforts to track down the driver are in top gear.
In the same vein, the spokesperson of Taraba State Police Command, Gambo Kwache, said the Police are working round the clock to bring the perpetrator to book.
