Some parts of Rivers and Bayelsa State have been hit with total blackout as suspected vandals launched vicious attacks on power infrastructure, resulting in the destruction of 13 transmission towers along the Ahoada-Yenagoa 132kV Double Circuit transmission line.

The General Manager Public Affairs, Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, Ndidi Mbah who made this known in a statement yesterday highlighted the severe impact the criminal act would have on the affected areas.

Mbah called on the Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara and his Bayelsa State counterpart, Douye Diri, to assist them in tackling the rising threat of vandalism of its infrastructure that has become common and destructive.

The TCN noted that the recent attack was particularly painful as it followed an earlier incident where the same Ahoada-Yenagoa transmission line was targeted, destroying two transmission towers.
