Veteran South African actress, Connie Chiume has died at the age of 72.
The internationally acclaimed actress who was best known for her roles in Black Panther and Wakanda Forever died on Tuesday, at Garden City Hospital.
Connie Chiume death was announced in a public statement by her family.
The statement says: “The Chiume Family regrets to inform you of the passing of internationally acclaimed award winning actress Connie Chiume.
“Connie, 72, died today on August 6, 2024, at Garden City Hospital. The family will communicate further details and ask for privacy during this difficult period.”
The late actress came to limelight through her many on screen characters in popular TV shows such as Mohlolohadi, Zone 14, Yizo Yizo, Rhythm City, Housekeepers, Grassroots, and the Marvel movie ‘Black Panther’.
The renowned actress recently starred in the hit series ‘Gomora’ and featured in Beyonce’s film ‘Black Is King’.
In her career, Chiume received several awards, including the NTVA Avanti Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series for Soul City in 2000 and the SAFTA for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama for Zone 14 in 2009.
