The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, on Thursday announced a ban on admissions for candidates under the age of 18 into tertiary institutions in the country.
The minister stated this at the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s 2024 policy meeting.
According to Mamman, “JAMB is hereby notified that underage students, those under the age of 18, are no longer permitted to enroll in our postsecondary institutions beginning with the 2024 admissions cycle.”
According to the minister, the Federal Government is thinking about raising the admittance limit to 18 years old for universities and other postsecondary educational institutions.
