Asue Ighodalo, a front running candidate in PDP’s primary elections for governor Edo state has been declared winner of the primary elections.
After polling a total of 577 votes, Ighodalo has been declared winner in the parallel elections held on Thursday 22 February 2024. He was declared the winner of the election by the Chairman of the Edo Electoral Committee and the Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal.

At the same time, Philip Shaibu, Deputy Governor of Edo State, won a separate PDP primary election for governorship. Philip Shaibu has a score of 301 when he counted the votes in this primary election. We hereby declare Mr. Sha, dressed in a yellow Tibu shirt and black Fez cap, to be the duly elected PDP candidate for this election,” said one of the crowd’s applauding men. Shaibu was seen exchanging pleasantries with dozens of supporters in a video on X, after what also looked like a parallel primary election.
