The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the proposed N27.5 trillion 2024 budget by the President as as “deceptive, strangling, and hopeless.”

The party decried the budget’s lack of foundational grounds to create jobs, revamp the economy and develop the country.

The PDP through his spokesman, Debo Ologunagba, said the budget was “predicated and expected to be funded from multilateral and bilateral foreign loans and increased taxes on Nigerians” and would “further mortgage our nation and strangulate the already impoverished Nigerians.”

The opposition slammed the Federal Government, saying the budget lacked some key strategies to build the economy in terms of agriculture, job creation and economic security.

“The lack of concrete and verifiable action plans to revive these key sectors is a pointer that the Tinubu-led APC government is bereft of ideas and completely disconnected from the reality of life being faced by Nigerians,”

The party also lambasted the government for pegging the dollar exchange rate at 750 to a dollar, adding that it was “defeatist” policy bound for failure.

“weaken our productive sector, wreck the purchasing power of Nigerians and the capacity of the youths to be creative.”

It Al’s called on members of the National Assembly to reject the budget and seek one that will “promote economic growth and the welfare of Nigerians.”

“This 2024 budget as presented by President Tinubu therefore represents hopelessness for Nigerians,” Ologunagba said. “It is pathetic that the President, whose main duty is to provide for the security and welfare of Nigerians could present a budget that is not geared towards the attainment of that Constitutional duty imposed on him.”

This is coming after the President submitted the 2024 appropriation bill to the join members of the National Assembly.

The budget christened, “Budget of Renewed Hope,” was said by the president to promote job creation, national security, health, education and others.
