American rapper and music executive, Sean Combs, known popularly as Diddy has resigned from his position as chairman of Revolt, the media company he co-founded in 2013.

This choice is made in the midst of lawsuits alleging sexual assault brought by Cassie, his former girlfriend.

The company said in an Instagram statement on Tuesday that the adjustment was necessary to enable Revolt to focus on its purpose.

According to the statement: “Sean Combs has stepped down from his position as chairman of Revolt. While Mr Combs has previously had no operational role in the business, this decision helps to ensure that Revolt remains steadfastly focused on our mission to create meaningful content for the culture and amplify the voices of all Black people throughout this country and the African diaspora.”

The singer’s ex-girlfriend, Casandra Ventura, filed a lawsuit against him in early November, alleging that over their ten-year romance, he had mistreated her physically and sexually.

A week after the first lawsuit, Joi Dickerson-Neal filed a second one, accusing the rapper of drugging and sexually abusing her in 1991.

In a third lawsuit, Jane Doe, an anonymous plaintiff, claimed that R&B singer Aaron Hall and Diddy had sexually abused her and other women at the singer’s flat in the early 1990s.

Diddy had denied all of the charges, referring to them as “fabricated claims” and “money grabs”.
