Kano state governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has filed an appeal at the Supreme Court challenging his removal as governor by the lower court.
Governor Yusuf who was sacked by both the election tribunal and the appeal Court has just filed to the final court.
Appeal Court fixed date to give Verdict on Nasarawa
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) alongside its Candidate, Yusuf filed the appeal which also joined All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The 20 ground appeal had these requests from the Supreme Court.
court as follows:
- An order allowing the appeal and setting aside the judgement of the Court of Appeal delivered on 17th November, 2023.
- An order upholding the portion of the judgement of the court of appeal setting aside the judgement of the trial Tribunal in petition No: EPT/RV/GOV/11/2023 and making an order as to costs in favour of the appellant.
- Such further orders as this honourable court may deem appropriate in the circumstances of the appeal.
Recall that last week, the Court ruled against Yusuf, nullifying his election on the grounds on not being a member of the NNPP by records available to INEC.
Adding that it was a violation of section 177 (c) of the 1999 Constitution.
The Appeal Court while following suite of the tribunal had had sacked Yusuf and declared Nasiru Gawuno of APC as duly elected.
