Former President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that his plan to retire to Niger Republic was truncated by the closure of the Niger border.

The president who had an exclusive interview with NTA on a program titled “Conversations with History” stated that he still got quite a number of visitors daily despite trying to stay away from the public eye.

“People charter buses and come to see me from time to time,” he said. “I thought I had stayed as far away from Abuja as possible, but they still come.”

The former President also revealed that he was okay being out of office and didn’t miss being Nigeria’s leader.

“Miss? I don’t think I miss much,” he stated.

Buhari had made a similar statement while in power in 2022, where he revealed his doubt of missing the seat of power if he leaves.

His words:

“I believe I’m trying my best, but still, my best is not good enough,” he declared. “I wonder if I am going to miss much. I think I’m being harassed.”
