The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly loyal to Governor Sim Fubara , Hon Edison Ehie has just announced that he survived an assassination attempt on his life.
A statement released by Rivers State House of Assembly correspondent, Ken Uchendu revealed that some thugs and alleged “rogue policemen” attempted to force themselves into his house on Sunday night, 19 of Nov 2023.
Ehie who was the leader of the house was chosen by some members of the house to replace embattled Speaker of the state House, Martins Amaewhule.
The Rivers State house of Assembly has since broken into two factions, with one end loyal to the Governor of the State, and another Loyal to the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike.
However, the Rivers State police command through its commissioner, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has debunked any allegations or rumors launching an attack on the factional speaker.
He however said while the matter is still under investigation, nothing outside a routine check was done and as such, there were no indications of an assassination attempt.
