The National leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress has suspended their strike action.

The organized labour group revealed their decision came on the heels of the intervention of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

The decision to rescind their initial decision is coming after a public appeal followed by a closed door meeting between the NSA and leaders of both the NLC and TUC.

The National Deputy Vice-President of the TUC, Tommy Etim, made the revelation while briefing newsmen today, Nov 15.

His words:

The NEC of the NLC and the TUC have suspended the strike. We did this based on our trust for the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, who gave us his words,” he said.

The PUNCH reports that the labour leaders met with Ribadu alongside the Minister of Labour, Simon Lalong, at the Office of the NSA on Wednesday afternoon.

The NSA had announced that the individuals responsible for the brutalisation of Ajaero had been arrested.

The initial reason for the industrial action had been the assault of the National President, Joe Ajaero, and the government’s inability to keep to the agreement held by both parties on October 2, 2023.
