The minister of information and national orientation, Mohammed Idris, has urged former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi against false presentation of facts.

Idris via his special assistant on media, Rabiu Ibrahim, on Thursday.

This is coming after Obi’s expression of displeasure on the allocations of the 2023 supplementary budget.

Where he described the budget as “insensitive to the plight of Nigerians”

However, Idris begs to disagree, rather describing the budget as  “a bold and pragmatic response” to current challenges facing the country.

Idris also urged the former presidential contender to spend quality time in evaluating the provisions in the budget.

Some of which are allocations for essential sectors: security, agriculture and food security, works and housing, wage increase for workers, student loan scheme and social safety nets, among others.

His words:

“The broad provisions in the supplementary budget is a reflection of President Tinubu’s strong desire and eagerness to support the vital functions of government, address urgent security needs, and fast-track the country’s recovery process from the economic impact occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy,”

Idris also asserted that the supplementary budget was reflective of the needs of Nigerians and that its provisions were born from strategic engagements with relevant stakeholders.

According to him, every detail of the budget was duly reviewed before approval and that its implementation will be done under rigorous supervision.
