The Supreme Court refuted claims that 5 justices have withdrawn from the list of judges set to hear the Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi Appeal.
Reports hit the airwaves that over five justices had pulled out of the panel to hear the appeal of the two Presidential candidates over the 2023 presidential elections.
Dr. Festus Akande, Director of Press and Information at the Supreme Court, has affirmed that all slated judges are complete and present for the hearing.
In his words:
“This is not true. The panel is ready. You will see all the Justices tomorrow (today). There is no crisis anywhere, as claimed by those online platforms,” Akande said.
The court will also hear the appeal by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and a motion by Atiku for permission to supply additional evidence.
It is learnt that tight security measures have been put in place for today’s hearing and that entry into the courtroom will be restricted.
Nigerians from all political parties have planned to occupy the court premises.
