The board of trustees (BoT) of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has suspended its founder and national leader, Musa Rabiu Kwakwaso.

However, the BoT of the party opined his suspension was for a probation period of 6 months.

The NNPP BoT also allegedly suspended members of the National working committee of the party and appointed an acting national chairman, Agba Major.

Ogini Olaposi was appointed as acting national secretary, and 18 others to different positions.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Babayo Muhammed Abdullahi, secretary of the BoT, accused Kwankwaso of engaging in political discussions with President Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), without the board’s authorisation.

Abdullahi also declared that Kwakwaso had been stripped of his title as National leader of the party.

He added that the memorandum of understanding signed by different groups in the party in the build to the 2023 election has been voided.

“The BoT decided that material evidence in the public sector affirmed that Kwankwaso was involved in anti-party activities in various meetings, suggesting political discussions with the President, Atiku and Obi without authorisation from the board,” NAN quoted Abdullahi as saying.

“This has earned him six months suspension pending the outcome of the investigation by the disciplinary committee.”

On May 15, Tinubu and Kwankwaso met for four house in France.

The meeting also centered around the alleged political romance between Kwakwaso and the incumbent president and the tendency for Tinubu to appoint non party members into his cabinet.

Tinubu since his inauguration has received Kwakwaso twice in the presidential villa. First in June 9th and in August 24th.

He had also received former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on the 15th of this month.
