Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved a whopping 854 million Naira for a mass wedding of prospective couples in the State.

Among other projects approved, the Governor revealed he had approved a budget for what he described as Auren Zaurawa Mass Wedding Initiative.

Yusuf’s new initiative has met a lot of reactions on social media with people asking why the governor would be signing off that amount amid the hardship in Nigeria.

The governor revealed this via his official Twitter handle where he tweeted:

Also from yesterday’s meeting. The Kano State Executive Council has approved the following:

“1. The release of the sum of 854 million Naira for the first phase of the Auren Zaurawa Mass Wedding Initiative.

2. Constitution of a special committee to settle outstanding pension arrears for retirees from the Kano State Civil Service.

3. Rehabilitation of 3 nos pedestrian bridges at Bayero University Kano Old Campus, Aminu Kano College of Legal and Islamic Studies, and the Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education. – AKY.”

Yusuf’s policies have been somewhat controversial, recall he had demolished a popular roundabout built by his predecessor, Umar Ganduje.
