In what looks like a twist of fate, the Federal Government has withdrawn the charge against former central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

The Federal Government had filed a suite of “possession of firearms” against the outsted CBN Governor.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) at the Federal Ministry of Justice, Mohammed Abubakar, had orally applied for the charge to be dismissed.

This application was done to the Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos State.

In his remark, he stressed that this application followed after the results of proper investigation.

However, Emefiele’s counsel, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Joseph Daudu, did not cede to the application by the opposing counsel.

Joseph Dauda rather asked the the opposing counsel (Federal Government) rids it’s self for it’s refusal to obey court orders by allowing Emiefele be released on bail as ordered by the court.

Justice Oweibo has adjourned till Thursday, August 17, 2023, to rule on the application.

The Director of Public Prosecutions also revealed via a chat with newsmen, that the Federal Government had filed a 20 count charge against the former CBN Governor at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court.
