Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, President, Ibrahim Gusau is optimistic about the Super Eagles’ chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite a shaky start to their campaign.

With only three points from four games, drawing three and losing one, the Eagles are currently in fifth position.

However, Gusau remains confident, saying, “I have much confidence we will qualify for the next World Cup in 2026.”

Gusau acknowledged the team’s poor start but emphasized that there is still momentum to build upon, stressing that he believes the Eagles will secure the ticket to the World Cup, and his confidence is not unfounded.

According to Gusau, the team has shown resilience in the past, adding that with the right support, they can turn their fortunes around.

The NFF president also highlighted the importance of the team’s participation in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, which he hopes will be a breakthrough moment for the Eagles.

Gusau expressed his commitment to supporting the team, stating, “Everybody knows what is at stake, and we are surely going to do our best to support the team.”

Gusau’s assurance is not just about the World Cup; he is also eyeing the 2025 AFCON title.

As the qualifiers progress, Nigerian football fans will be watching with bated breath, hoping that Gusau’s confidence is well-placed.
