The Lagos State Task Force has cracked down on commercial motorcycles, also known as Okada, by impounding 82 of them across the city.

Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, Adetayo Akerele stated that this move is aimed at enforcing the state’s traffic laws, which prohibit Okada operations in certain areas.

Akerele emphasized that the operation is part of a sustained effort to rigorously enforce the law.

Cyber Reporters gathered that the impounded motorcycles were seized during recent operations in Berger, Mile 2 Oke, and Orile areas.

Akerele warned that both Okada riders and passengers found violating the ban will face prosecution, stressing that passengers are equally guilty as the riders.

He reiterated that the Task Force remains committed to ensuring Lagos roads are safe and motorable for everyone.

Akerele noted that residents are encouraged to adhere to the regulations, which are in place to protect lives and property.

Akerele said:

“Passengers on okada are as guilty as the riders. If caught, they will face the full weight of the law alongside the riders.

“The Lagos State Taskforce remains committed to enforcing the law and ensuring that Lagos roads remain safe and motorable for the public.

“Residents are encouraged to adhere to the regulations, as these efforts are in place to protect the lives and property of all residents.”
