The Federal High Court in Abuja has set bail at N10 million each for 10 protesters charged with attempting to overthrow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Justice Emeka Nwite granted the bail while delivering a ruling on their bail applications.

The protesters are required to produce one surety each, who must be a resident and property owner in Abuja.

The sureties must also deposit documents of their properties and swear an affidavit of means.

Both the defendants and sureties must deposit their international passports and three recent passport photographs with the court.

Justice Nwite rejected the Inspector General of Police’s objections to the bail request.

The defendants are prohibited from participating in any public rallies throughout their trial.

Pending the perfection of their bail conditions, the defendants will be remanded in prison custody.

The trial is set to commence on September 27.

The accused persons allegedly committed treasonable offences during their nationwide protests, including levying war against Nigeria and inciting the public against the government.
