Fire damages part of the two-story structure at the Lagos State Government Staff Quarters on Odunsanmi Street, off WEMPCO Road in the state’s Ogba region on Friday.

According to sources, the incident occurred in the early hours of the day, specifically around 2.20 a.m.

It was reported that one of the two-bedroom flats in Flat 5, Block 21, a two-winged, three-story structure with 16 two-bedroom flats, had been burned.

A preliminary examination by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) indicated that the fire was caused by an electrical surge in the children’s room.

Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, stated that the fire damaged the children’s bedroom and caused the loss of property worth millions of naira.

“The prompt and coordinated efforts of the Agency’s LRT, NPF, and Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, ensured the fire was contained and extinguished quickly.

“Fortunately there was no loss of life and injuries sustained in the incident.

“Also, victims and other occupants were enlightened on the proper use of electric appliances, “Oke-Osanyitolu confirmed.
