The founder and CEO of Telegram, Pavel Durov has allegedly been taken into custody by French authorities at Le Bourget airport in Paris on Saturday.
According to reports, Durov was detained by the Air Transport Gendarmerie upon his arrival from Azerbaijan.
A search warrant had allegedly been issued in connection with a preliminary investigation into Telegram’s practices.
Authorities have raised concerns about the platform’s moderation, cooperation with law enforcement, and features.
Durov is expected to appear before an investigative judge and may face charges related to various offenses.
