Nigeria’s Odunayo Adekuoroye lost 8-10 to China’s Hong Kexin on Thursday in the women’s freestyle 57-kilogram event of the 2024 Olympic Games wrestling competition.
Despite the Nigerian’s early lead, both wrestlers were tied by the end of the first session of the quarter-final fight in Paris’ Champ-de-Mars Arena.
But Hong drew away in the second period, earning technical points freely as she advanced to the semi-finals.
According to NAN, Adekuoroye defeated Algerian Chaimaa Aouissi in the first round earlier in the day before being hurt.
Meanwhile, sources indicate that she now wants to compete for a bronze medal if the Chinese advance to the final, allowing her to participate in the repechage.
