Nollywood Actress and Filmmaker, Funke Akindele, has left her mark on UK cinemas with her latest film, ‘A Tribe Called Judah,’ grossing an impressive £80,000.
FilmOne Entertainment, Nigeria’s official distributor, reported earnings from five cinemas in the United Kingdom over a four-week period.
On February 1, 2024, the Cinemas Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN) reported that A Tribe Called Judah earned ₦1,384,315,042 in Nigeria. The film, which had been at the top of the Nigerian box office chart for nearly seven weeks, was dethroned by The Beekeeper last week.
In the story ‘A Tribe Called Judah’, five brothers—Jide Kene Achufusi as Emeka Judah, Timini Egbuson as Pere Judah, Uzee Usman as Adamu Judah, Tobi Makinde as Shina Judah, and Olumide Oworu as Ejiro Judah—must band together to plunder a business in order to save their mother, Jedidah Judah, portrayed by Akindele.
The cast includes Ebelle Okaro, Uzor Arukwe, Nse Ikpe Etim, Genoveva Umeh, Faithia Williams, Nosa Rex, Greg Ojefua, Ibrahim Yekini, Boma Akpore, Paschaline Ijeoma Alex, Etinosa Idemudia, Juliana Olayode, and Yvonne Jegede.
Since its premiere on December 15, 2023, the film has been viewed in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and nine French-speaking countries.
