Rema Becomes First African Artist to Win Chinese Music Award

Nigerian singer, Divine Ikubor, also known as Rema, is the first African musician to receive a Chinese music award, making history.

The singer accomplished this after winning Best Collaboration of the Year at the 2024 Hito Music Award in the Republic of China with his song “Calm Down” remix featuring American superstar Selena Gomez.

Rema Displaces King Sunny Ade’s Record on US Billboard Albums Chart

Hit FM, Taiwan presented the award, with DJ Andy serving as host.

Rema is one of the few foreign musicians to have won the Taiwanese award, along with American and British performers.

With more than six awards, American pop sensation Taylor Swift is among the most renowned international performers at the ceremony.
