An Appeal Court sitting in Lagos is scheduled to deliver its verdict on the petition filed by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Patrick Tonye-Cole, against incumbent Governor of the State, Siminalayi Fubara of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“He should have told me about his preferred successor instead of intimidating me” – Edo Deputy Governor speaks on feud with Obaseki

Tonye Cole is asking the Court and INEC to declare him the validly elected Governor of the State.

Amongst his pleas are: a petition that the Governor was still functioning as Accountant General of the Federation after his nomination as flag bearer of the PDP.

The APC candidate is also alleging a number of irregularities in the elections.

Given the recent bad blood between Governor Sim and his estranged godfather, Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, emotions are high in anticipation of the verdict.
