Reacting to the electoral victory by his party’s candidate in Bayelsa, Former Senate President, and Chairman Board of Trustees (BoT) of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Adolphus Wabara, said Douye Diri’s victory was a proof of his good leadership in his first term.

Senator Wabara who relayed a congratulatory message to Diri asserted that his win was another validation of PDP’s popularity and acceptance in Bayelsa State.

He commended Bayelsa voters for voting massively for the PDP and standing firm to defend their votes against anti-democratic forces that attempted to subvert the people’s mandate.

According to Wabara, the tenacity of Bayelsans to defend their mandate was strong indication that power would no longer served on a platter to corrupt leaders.

He urged Diri to concentrate on consolidating his first term with this second opportunity.

Wabara also called on all the contestants to accept defeat and congratulate the governor elect.

Diri in a fierce contest with former minister of state for petroleum and candidate of the APC, won six out of eight local governments in the polls.

He polled a total of 175,196 votes defeating 15 other candidates in the November 11th polls.

Sylva won two LGAs, and scoring a total of 110,108 votes
