Popular Nigerian street artiste, Mohbad’s songs have enjoyed a massive boost on streaming platforms across the country following his death on September 12, 2023.
The recently dead musician had an astounding six entries in the top 10 of the most recent TurnTable weekly Top 100 Nigeria chart.
Mohbad’s “Ask About Me,” “Beast & Peace,” and “Peace” all rose in the chart week of September 15–21, 2023, with Mohbad’s “Ask About Me” rising 20 spots to No. 2, “Beast & Peace,” up 29 spots to No. 3, and “Peace,” reaching No. 1 on Apple Music. Nigeria climbs 23 spots to position 23 on the chart.
Bella Shmurda’s “Pariwo” climbs 44 spots to No. 7, “Sabi” climbs 68 spots to No. 8, and “Feel Good” climbs 25 spots to No. 9.
Since his death, streaming of Mohbad’s music has skyrocketed. His first EP, “Light,” and his sophomore EP, “Blessed,” both of which were released in 2023, have had a rebirth on streaming services.
The general population has expressed outrage over Mohbad’s death and demanded inquiries into any potential foul play.
