Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli will miss their Carabao Cup fourth-round game against Brighton.

The two players need further tests to find out the extent of their injuries.

Saliba came off injured during the half-time of Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, while Martinelli pulled up in stoppage time of that game and limped down the tunnel.

On Saliba, Arteta said: “He is out [for Brighton].

“No [we don’t know how long he is out for]. We are assessing him but he won’t be involved in this match.”

And on Martinelli, Arteta replied:”It looks as though he’s going to be out.

“We have to do some more tests to see the extent of the injury, but this game will be too early for him.”

Arteta however said Declan Rice, Riccardo Calafiori and Bukayo Saka – who all came off with knocks against Palace – are available to face Brighton.
