Victor Osimhen has made history in the UEFA Champions League, becoming the first Nigerian player to score double figures in the competition’s history (excluding qualifying rounds).

Cyber Reporters reports that the Osimhen achieved this milestone in Galatasaray’s match against Liverpool, where he scored a penalty in the 16th minute.

This goal took Osimhen’s tally to 10 in the Champions League proper.

Osimhen’s impressive performance came in Galatasaray’s match against reigning Premier League champions, Liverpool at the Rams Park last night.

The Super Eagles striker was making his first full start since returning from an ankle injury and did not disappoint, converting a penalty awarded after Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai fouled in the area.

Osimhen’s goal beat Alisson Becker, securing his place in the record books.

The 26-year-old striker now leads the pack among Nigerian players in the Champions League, surpassing Obafemi Martins, who has nine goals.

Other notable Nigerian players, such as Ademola Lookman, Nwankwo Kanu, Victor Ikpeba, and Yakubu Aiyegbeni, have five goals each.

Osimhen’s achievement highlights his growing impact on European football.

As Osimhen continues to shine in the Champions League, fans and pundits alike will be watching to see if he can maintain this level of performance and further cement his legacy in the competition.
