Manchester United’s starting goalkeeper, Andre Onana, has reportedly demanded a new contract and a pay rise.

The Athletic, via Sportal reported that the shot-stopper was left deeply dissatisfied after the Red Devils failed to qualify for the Champions League for a second consecutive season, which triggered a 25% pay cut for the players—a standard club policy in recent years.

Onana was displeased with the club policy and has requested a new deal to rectify the situation.

His demands have surprised both Ruben Amorim and the Manchester United hierarchy, especially following a series of unconvincing performances from the Cameroonian over the past two seasons.

Onana was informed this summer that he could leave the club if a suitable offer was made, though the Red Devils did not actively seek to sell him.

The only club to show interest was Monaco, but the French side quickly withdrew upon learning of the approximately £30 million asking price set by Old Trafford.
