According to sources , Ukrainian Olympic athlete Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk has been allegedly banned from competition for four years after testing positive for testosterone.

The 30-year-old long jumper and triple jumper returned an adverse analytical finding from an out-of-competition urine sample collected on 7 December 2024, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) confirmed.

Bekh-Romanchuk, a three-time Olympian and silver medallist at the World Championships, denied knowingly taking a banned substance but was unable to explain the presence of testosterone metabolites in her sample.

The AIU said her period of ineligibility began on 13 May 2025, the date of her provisional suspension.

In a statement posted to Instagram, Bekh-Romanchuk said she “strongly disagreed” with the ruling but had chosen not to contest the ban further.

“I refused to sign any documents that required me to admit guilt because I am an honest person, and my humanity and dignity are important to me,” she wrote.

“Today, I have to make a difficult choice. I can no longer fight on two fronts, for my good name before the Athletics Integrity Unit and for my future in my personal life. It is incredibly exhausting, especially emotionally, and it affects my health. That is why I have decided to take a break to focus on my family and my own health.”

Bekh-Romanchuk won gold in the triple jump at the 2022 European Championships and the 2023 European Games, and is regarded as one of Ukraine’s most prominent track and field athletes in recent years.
