Newcastle United has reaffirmed their goal to retain striker Alexander Isak at the club this summer despite claims of broken commitments.

Alexander Isak’s desire to leave Newcastle United has dominated headlines this summer, and the club, aware of this situation, have attempted to bring in new attacking faces all summer, to no avail.

There is a belief that if Newcastle had secured two top strikers, they might have considered Isak’s potential move to Liverpool, acknowledging his wish to depart.

However, on Tuesday night, the club’s owners firmly stated that the Swedish international will remain at St. James’ Park. The decision follows Isak’s inflammatory social media post, prompting a strong response from Newcastle.

In an official statement, the club said: “We are disappointed to have been alerted to a social media post by Alexander Isak this evening. We are clear in response that Alex remains under contract and that no commitment has ever been made by a club official that Alex can leave Newcastle United this summer.

“We want to keep our best players, but we also understand players have their own wishes, and we listen to their views.
