Real Madrid’s star, Kylian Mbappe, is set to inherit the club’s coveted No. 10 shirt.

According to French sports magazine L’Equipe, the move comes as the legendary jersey becomes available following the departure of Luka Modric, who has worn it since 2017.

According to the article, the club took the choice to give Mbappe the number 10, rather than the French international requesting it.

This decision makes logical sense, given Mbappe’s long-standing affiliation with the No. 10 for the France National Team, where he is now captain.

The No. 10 shirt at Real Madrid carries immense historical weight, having been donned by legendary figures such as Ferenc Puskas, Luis Figo, Mesut Özil, James Rodriguez, and most recently, the esteemed Luka Modric.

For the first time since James Rodriguez’s loan departure in 2017, the number has been available for a new custodian.

Mbappe, who initially took the No. 9 shirt upon his highly anticipated arrival at the Santiago Bernabéu. His current No. 9 jersey, previously worn by Karim Benzema, will consequently become available.
