Japan has secured its spot in the 2026 World Cup, becoming the first country outside the host nations to qualify for the tournament.

Cyber Reporters reports that the Samurai Blue achieved this feat with a convincing 2-0 victory over Bahrain on Thursday.

Goals from Daichi Kamada and Takefusa Kubo in the second half sealed Japan’s qualification, ensuring they finish among the top two teams in Asia Group C.

Under the leadership of head coach Hajime Moriyasu, Japan has delivered impressive performances throughout the qualifying series, including a recent 3-1 win over China.

With 16 points, Japan now sits atop Group C, solidifying their position as one of the top teams in Asian qualifying.

This marks Japan’s eighth consecutive World Cup appearance, a testament to their consistency and strength in international football.

Japan joins co-hosts the United States, Canada, and Mexico in the expanded 48-team tournament, which promises to be an exciting and highly competitive event.
