Rwanda Football Association’s media officer, Oliver Maurice, has singled out Victor Osimhen as the main threat to Amavubi’s chances in their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Nigeria.

Cyber Reporters reports that Osimhen will lead Nigeria’s attack on Friday, and his form this season has been nothing short of sensational.

The 26-year-old has been in scintillating form for Galatasaray, scoring 26 goals and providing five assists in 30 matches across all competitions.

His impressive performances have made him a nightmare for opposing defenders, and Maurice is well aware of the challenge that Osimhen poses.

“Osimhen is on fire, and we will try to stop him in this match,” Maurice said.

Neutralizing Osimhen’s attacking prowess will be crucial if Amavubi are to secure a positive result against Nigeria.

Despite acknowledging Nigeria’s quality, Maurice expressed confidence in Amavubi’s ability to secure a positive result.

“We respect Nigeria, but we’re not afraid of them,” he said. Maurice also highlighted Rwanda’s favorable home record against Nigeria, noting that the Super Eagles have never won in Rwanda.

With the match just around the corner, Maurice is excited about the prospect of Amavubi securing a historic win against Nigeria.

“We’re all excited ahead of this match, and our fans will come out in full force to support the team,” he added.

The stage is set for an intriguing encounter, and Amavubi will be looking to capitalize on their home advantage to secure a crucial win.
