Eric Chelle, the new head coach of the Super Eagles, has made public his plans for handling Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen on the team.

The Nigeria Football Federation formally unveiled Chelle as the Super Eagles’ new head coach on Monday in Abuja. The side qualified for the 2025 AFCON tournament under interim coach Augustine Eguavoen, who was replaced by the Malian.

Despite their slow start, he is now expected to lead the squad in their World Cup qualifying matches and ensure they qualify for the tournament. Osimhen and Lookman, two of the Super Eagles’ best players, will be managed by Chelle, as he has disclosed.

According to Matin Libre, the 47-year-old coach told RFI, “A lot of people already complain that I don’t have much experience. In the end, though, I do have experience.

“I ended my career in 2014 and I’ve been coaching since that year. I coached a team, let’s say, from West Africa not long ago.

“I coached a team in Algeria, the Mouloudia Club d’Oran. So, I’m starting to get to know African football well.

“Today, I feel ready to lead this great team with great players. So, I’m part of the progression process; the players will help me progress and I will help them progress too because I have a vision of football that will really fit well with this team.
