A devastating fire incident occurred in the early hours of Friday in Ibadan, claiming the lives of a husband, his wife, and their grandson.

Cyber Reporters gathered that the fire affected a storey building at Ori-Eru, Idikan area of Ibadan.

According to Yemi Akinyinka, General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, the fire incident was reported at 3:46 a.m. through a distress call made by one Hassan.

The agency’s personnel immediately deployed to the scene and extinguished the fire.

Upon arrival, the firefighters met an upper floor of the residential building well alight. They swiftly swung into action, and the fire was completely extinguished.

Unfortunately, three people lost their lives in the fire, while five others were rescued alive.

Reports say preliminary investigations suggest that the fire was caused by the use of naked fire to keep the house warm during the cold weather.

The victims had slept off, leading to the fire disaster. The use of naked fire is a common practice in many Nigerian homes, but it poses a significant risk of fire outbreaks.

A team of policemen and Amotekun personnel were deployed to the scene to prevent a breakdown of law and order.

They helped to maintain calm and ensured that the situation did not escalate further.

The Oyo State Fire Services Agency has urged residents to take necessary precautions to prevent fire outbreaks, especially during the cold weather.
