The home-based Super Eagles of Nigeria prepare for the Black Galaxies of Ghana in CHAN qualifiers

Training for the home-based Super Eagles has resumed at the Sports Institute of Remo Stars in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State.

Nigeria is taking their quest for a fourth African Nations Championship berth seriously, according to players invited to the Super Eagles B camp.

In preparation for the Eagles’ possibly explosive home-and-away qualification game with the Ghanaian Black Galaxies, 30 players assembled at the stunning facility last week.

Only players with permanent contracts who compete in their home leagues are eligible to join the CHAN.

The Home-based Super Eagles were not eligible for the 2009, 2011, 2021, or 2023 tournaments.

However, in 2014 (in South Africa) and 2018 (in Morocco), the Super Eagles finished on the podium with bronze and silver, respectively.

With the first leg coming up on Sunday, December 22 at the Accra Sports Stadium, coaches Daniel Ogunmodede and Fidelis Ikechukwu have been putting in more time with the players.

The Super Eagles B saw this month’s qualifying match as an opportunity to regain the support of Nigerian football fans after missing two consecutive CHAN tournaments, in addition to their intense rivalry with Ghana on the field.
