The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, has called for the immediate revocation of a private airstrip license granted to Living Faith Church Worldwide.

The church, led by Bishop David Oyedepo, was recently approved for a private airstrip, sparking concerns from the NSCIA.

According to the NSCIA, the airstrip poses a threat to national security.

The council expressed its concerns in a communiqué issued after its 10th meeting of the Expanded General Purpose Committee, EGPC, in Abuja.

The NSCIA described the approval of the airstrip as “an aberration of the highest order”.

The council stressed that regulatory authorities must be more diligent when issuing such licenses to ensure they do not compromise national security and unity.

The call for revocation was signed by the Deputy Secretary-General of the NSCIA, Prof Salisu Shehu.

The communiqué emphasized the need for trust-building, extensive consultation, and genuine dialogue in decision-making processes.

The NSCIA also cautioned against actions that create unnecessary tension, stating that such actions must be avoided.

The approval of the private airstrip license has sparked controversy, with some questioning the criteria used to grant the approval.

The NSCIA’s call for revocation adds to the growing concerns about the potential implications of the airstrip.

Cyber Reporters understands that the Nigerian government has yet to respond to the NSCIA’s call for revocation.
