Paulo Fonseca, AC Milan Coach, has given an explanation for his current preference for Yunus Musah over Samuel Chukwueze.
Due to his inability to establish himself as a starter, Chukwueze had mostly been utilized as AC Milan’s replacement.
The Super Eagles star has been replaced by Musah, who has been utilized as a winger due to his defensive consistency.
He showed his skills by scoring two goals in the 6-1 Coppa Italia victory over Sauossolo, despite not being in the starting lineup.
Even though Chukwueze was the apparent pick for the position, Fonseca has revealed why he has consistently started Musah.
The Portuguese manager was quoted by Milan News as saying, “I recall discussing Chukwu two games ago. He’s adjusting nicely. He is making improvement when we require this role on the right.
“He doesn’t have any issues. No, if we believe he is more defensively capable than Musah. However, in certain games, he can perform this role.
The 22-year-old has helped AC Milan’s recent form surge, and his performances have played a factor in Chukwueze’s failure to start.
The Nigerian player had been a substitute in the last two of the previous five Serie A games, but he was granted a start in the UEFA Champions League match against Slovan Bratislava.
Chukwueze has made 50 appearances for AC Milan, mostly as a substitute, and has only managed three goals overall.
