The Osun State Government has announced that the newly approved minimum wage of N75,554.20 for civil servants will take effect on December 1, 2024.
The approval followed the satisfactory conclusion of negotiations between the state government and organized labor organizations.
In addition to the salary increase, the government has approved an across-the-board boost of N25,000 for all retirees, with arrears of the minimum wage being paid alongside workers’ November salaries.
Speaking at the agreement’s formal signing on Friday, Osun’s Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, stated that the move demonstrates Governor Ademola Adeleke’s dedication to cultivating a motivated and contented workforce.
“This development demonstrates the Adeleke administration’s determination to maintain a happy labor force and prioritize the welfare of workers and retirees alike,” Alimi stated.
Abimbola Fasasi and Christopher Arapasopo, state chairman of the Trade Union Congress and the Nigeria Labour Congress, attended the occasion.
Osun Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi complimented Adeleke’s compassionate leadership, saying it exceeded expectations.
“The governor has shown empathy and responsibility in addressing labor-related issues. We urge workers to reciprocate by delivering quality service and enhancing productivity across the state,” Adewusi remarked.
