Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher has criticized Mohamed Salah for publicly discussing his contract negotiations, calling his actions “selfish.”
Salah, whose contract expires in June 2025, claimed after a 3-2 win at Southampton that Liverpool had not made a new offer.
Carragher, speaking in an interview, disputed Salah’s assertion, saying, “Of course, there have been discussions, but there’s a significant difference in valuation between Salah’s expectations and Liverpool’s.”
He expressed concern that Salah’s public comments could disrupt the team’s focus ahead of crucial matches against Real Madrid and Manchester City.
Carragher noted that Salah rarely stops for interviews, but chose to do so after the Southampton game, which he felt was strategically timed to apply pressure on the club.
“If he continues to make public comments or his agent posts cryptic tweets, that’s selfish and prioritizes individual interests over the team’s needs,” Carragher said.
He urged both parties to find common ground, saying, “I’m desperate for them to meet in the middle and resolve this.”
The contract negotiations have sparked concern among Liverpool fans, who fear losing their star player.
