The Port Harcourt Refinery, a Nigerian-owned facility, has finally commenced crude oil production, marking a significant milestone.

Cyber Reporters reports that this development was confirmed by Olufemi Soneye, spokesperson for the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, on Tuesday.

According to Soneye, the refinery has begun operations at 60% capacity, processing 60,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

The Port Harcourt Refinery has a combined capacity of 250,000 barrels per day, making it a crucial component of Nigeria’s oil refining infrastructure.

The successful commencement of production is a welcome relief after multiple failed start-up deadlines.

Cyber Reporters understands that this achievement is a testament to the efforts of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and its partners in revamping the refinery.

The refinery’s operations are expected to contribute significantly to meeting Nigeria’s domestic fuel demands.

The commencement of production at the Port Harcourt Refinery is a positive development for Nigeria’s energy sector.

It is expected to reduce reliance on imported petroleum products, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth.

As the refinery ramps up production, it is anticipated that it will operate at full capacity soon, maximizing its potential and benefiting the Nigerian economy.
