Former Senator John Azuta Mbata has called on Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike to let peace reign in Rivers State.

Cyber Reporters reports that Mbata’s plea comes amid the ongoing political tensions between Wike and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Wike’s successor and estranged protégé.

Mbata believes Wike should focus on his ministerial duties in Abuja and let Governor Fubara do his job in Rivers State.

“He’s doing well as a minister, and we pray he continues to do so,” Mbata said. “Face your job in Abuja and let Fubara do his work.”

Mbata emphasized that Wike cannot control Rivers State from Abuja, especially with a sitting governor in place.

Mbata also expressed his unwavering support for Governor Fubara’s administration, stating:

“Life is turned by turn. This is Fubara’s time and opportunity to showcase his capacity to move Rivers State forward.”

Interestingly, Mbata claimed to have played a key role in Wike’s rise to power, installing him as Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Council in 1998 against all odds.

The Rivers State political crisis, which began in 2023, has been a subject of public concern, with Wike addressing the issue in a recent broadcast.
