Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has emerged victorious in Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Cyber Reporters reports that Aiyedatiwa secured the highest number of votes, defeating Ajayi Agboola of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olorunfemi Festus of the Labour Party, LP, and Abbas Mimiko of the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, among others.

With a total of 366,781 votes, Aiyedatiwa outpaced his closest rival, Ajayi, who garnered 117,845 votes, while the Labour Party trailed with 1,162 votes.

INEC’s Returning Officer, Akinwumi Durotimi, announced the results in Akure, declaring Aiyedatiwa the winner after satisfying the legal requirements and scoring the highest number of lawful votes cast.

Notably, Aiyedatiwa, who succeeded late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on December 27, 2023, hails from Ilaje Local Government Area in the southern senatorial district of the state.
